Pathways to Growth – Fostering the Conditions for a Competitive Economy

This paper was prepared jointly by Australian and Canadian public service officials ahead of a discussion among senior officials of the two governments about ways to foster the conditions for a more productive economy.

The paper includes a discussion about the importance of productivity-enhancing structural reforms for both Canada and Australia and identifies a number of priority reforms for the two countries. It also identifies a range of factors that present challenges for reform.

The paper was prepared as part of ongoing engagement between Canadian and Australian public service officials on topics of mutual interest.
